Ah, the first post of the new year. I hope everyone had a nice holiday. It’s been fairly quiet around here, but I’ve been taking my time, slowly enjoying the games I have right now. After beating Radiant Dawn twice (and not fussing about stat gains on Hard Mode) I started working more on Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy.

I’m not really too far in either still, but I know Prime 3 is going to be getting much more of my focus right now. I’m really starting to get into it. Veteran Mode is proving to be fun and challenging, and I’m fairly used to all the controls right now. After getting a taste of a couple bosses (and music), I’m really excited to see what’s next in store.

Even with all that said, it’s kind of a shame but I did notice a few things that detracted from my complete enjoyment of the game. For instance, why do I have to view a cutscene of Samus’s ship flying to whatever destination every time I fly? If I’ve traveled to that area already I should be able to skip that scene. Maybe you actually can, but if mashing every button didn’t work I don’t know what will. There’s also the problem from previous Prime games where doors didn’t open automatically after shooting them. If I’m gonna be stuck for a couple of seconds I’d rather it be on a puzzle than a dumb door.

I am thankful though that I can expect without a reasonable doubt that these two things are the only things I’ll be complaining about. Another kick-ass boss encounter and I’ll be over that in a flash.

Aaaaaaanyways…

Nodame Cantabile Dream Orchestra Box Art
I naturally thought my first import game would be Tales of Symphonia 2, but I was wrong. When I found that this existed, I absolutely had to get it. I loved watching (and now reading) Nodame Cantabile and now they made a CLASSICAL MUSIC RHYTHM GAME! I’m not particularly good at rhythm games but I’m decent enough to enjoy it. There’s almost no gameplay footage on YouTube so I’ll be recording a few things for Nodame. Definitely not everything though, I don’t want my OCD to kick in. Just enough to show how fun it is. Unfortunately, I can’t record my controller movements so you’ll have to deal with just seeing what’s on screen. Here is the first video.

Hmm… I’m a bit tired, so I’ll stop here. You can probably expect another post this month when I get my hands on the Devil May Cry 4 demo. I can’t wait!

i had to quit metroid :( the puzzles got way to tedious for me. watching the ship is just a way to hide the load screen i think. all my focus is on call of duty 4 now. dmc4 demo is out though! ill have to check it out tonight
