Mmm… it sure is a good time to be a 360 owner. Star Ocean 4, Vesperia, Last Remnant, and Infinite Undiscovery release dates (sorta) revealed! Not to mention it looks like Eternal Sonata will be staying 360 exclusive in the US for now. Take that, PS3!
I played the Vesperia demo recently. Short, sweet, and beautiful in HD. I’ve gotta say, Tales is pretty rough when you’ve haven’t played one in a long time. It took me a few minutes or so to get readjusted. The English voice acting was pretty decent from what they had (P3′s Yukari as Rita! I love it already). Estelle wasn’t quite as I’d imagined but she’s still easy on the ears so I have no complaints. Can’t really say I was a fan of the first battle theme but I have high hopes Motoi did something awesome for the bosses and eventual (inevitable) second and possibly third battle themes.
Looking at this year’s lineup, I’ve gotta wonder when the PS3 will start getting in gear RPG-wise. I didn’t even pick up a PS2 until FF10 hit. By then, there still wasn’t really that many decent games on it. Not that the PS3 isn’t doing well right now (lolBluray) but they don’t have anything I’m interested in right now except for Valkyria Chronicles which is apparently coming this November. It’ll be very tempting to pick up the PS3 by then and finally round out my next-gen console collection (aside from portables), but there’s nothing else for the PS3 being released for some time before and after Valkyria. Why must it be so alone… I just remembered about White Knight Story. When is that even coming out? Maybe 2009 will be the year for them.

PS3′s year will be whenever FFXIII comes out~ Sigh, generally cause it’ll take that long for developers to get going on it. Also, gotta get you a DS or something. Next-gen RPGs so far has been fun to play but they’re still missing the innovations and wow factor that made last gen and the last last gen so great. Same formula in hi-def just won’t cut it forever =\. Some of the RPGs on the DS and the zomgliveforever PS2 can already satisfy that aspect or maybe I’m just too old-school to enjoy RPGs based on contents and mechanics. Here’s to hoping that the RPGs coming out for the 360 soon will have just as much depth as they do eye candy~
Also, <3 Rita.
